A new Xbox One Ark: Survival Evolved patch improves overall rendering performance by using the console’s fast ESRAM.
The official patch notes for update 741.0 can be found on the Ark website right here, but we’ve also included them below.
Upcoming Version: 741.0, ETA September 15
30% to 40% rendering performance improvement of Structures15% overall rendering performance improvement by moving all Render Targets to fast EDRAMSignificantly improved rendering performance of Scorched Earth environmentFixed some crashes with the Game List UIFixed dynamically installation of Scorched Earth DLC (so that you don't have to restart the game application after installing it)Fixed Giganotosaurus damagetype issueNew Item: Night Vision GogglesNew Dino: Tapejara!New Dino: Archaeopteryx! As noted, one of the most interesting new features in the update, is the use of the Xbox One’s 32MB eSRAM to boost overall rendering performance by 15%. All render targets have been moved over to the console’s fast dedicated memory. While the patch notes mention the use of EDRAM, they are probably referring to the Xbox One's ESRAM as Microsoft's console doesn't use the former.
Structure rendering performance has also been boosted by 30-40% according to Studio Wildcard, although this doesn’t seem to be related to the use of the Xbox One’s eSRAM.
The 741.0 update weighs in at 5.7GB, but for those who have purchased the Scorched Earth expansion, there’s another patch that clocks in at 3.4GB in size. Rendering performance of the Scorched Earth environment has also been improved through the new patches.
As reported last month, the last update to Ark: Survival Evolved for the Xbox One, provided a resolution and framerate boost on Microsoft’s console - in-game graphics were upgraded to 720p while the resolution of the UI was upgraded to 1080P.
Ark: Survival Evolved is currently available on Xbox One and PC via early access, while the final game is expected to be released later this year. On PC, the game includes Oculus Rift VR support, and an integration of Steam community features such as Steam Economy and Steam Workshop for custom maps and mods.
