Apex Legends S17 Teaser Confirms Ballistic Who Brings a Dark Backstory and Plenty of Style-October 2024
Oct 28, 2024 12:17 AM

For some time now, we’ve been hearing rumors that Apex Legends Season 17, entitled “Arsenal,” would feature the debut of the new Legend Ballistic and now it’s been confirmed. Ballistic has a rather interesting and dark backstory, as he was one of the original Apex Games competitors, back before they were even called the Apex Games. The biggest star of the original Thunderdome Games, Ballistic retired after his showboating cost his brother-in-law his life. Ballistic would spend years in a pit of drink and self-pity, but now he’s coming back on a very personal mission. You can check out the story trailer for Ballistic, below.

“Under the name Ballistic, August Montgomery Brinkman was once the greatest competitor in the Thunderdome Games, but in the wake of a tragic loss of his brother-in-law, Ballistic retired and retreated into solitude. For 40 years, he remained in hiding until an unexpected event pulled him back in and forced him to make the Syndicate an offer it could not ignore.”

While the new trailer doesn’t get into Ballistic’s abilities, leakers have likely already spilled the beans. The veteran Legend reportedly has a sling that will let him carry a third weapon, smart bullets that will cause opponents’ guns to overheat once they’ve been tagged, and a weapon enhancer that will buff teammates, giving them unlimited ammo and other advantages. Of course, take this with a grain of salt until Respawn confirms everything, as things can always change. That said, you can get more info on what the leakers are saying about Ballistic here.

So, what else is Respawn/Respawn Vancouver cooking up for Apex Legends Arsenal? Players can look forward to another update to the World’s Edge map, a new Weapon Mastery system, a rework of the Ranked system, and more. It’s also rumored Season 17 will feature the new Rumble Royal mode, that will strip out a lot of the extra (squads, abilities, and loadouts) in favor of a more down-and-dirty free-for-all.

Apex Legends can be played on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and Switch. The Arsenal season kicks off on May 9. Expect more info from Wccftech before then.
