Two new videos showcasing the various character customization options have dropped online for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Following the Direct recently, Nintendo has been releasing smaller videos showcasing some of the gameplay elements fans have been asking about (and we've also published our Animal Crossing: New Horizons review-in-progress).
Character customization is a big deal for the Animal Crossing fans. In previous iterations of the series, players had little control over their characters' facial features or skin tone, and haircuts were a bit of a guessing game. Now, players have far more control over their villagers' appearance right from the beginning of the game.

Check-in Procedures ②
At the counter, they'll ask for your name and birthday, and then they'll take a picture of you for your passport. Take as much time as you need to get yourself looking just the way you want! pic.twitter.com/kJQjUDIREc

According to the official Animal Crossing Twitter, making your villager will be one of the first things you do upon starting the game. As part of the island getaway package you will need to have an in-game passport, which will require a photo of your character. This takes you to a character customization menu, where you can choose your skin tone, hair color and style, and eye, nose, and mouth type.
Now, I want everyone to know that you'll be able to adjust the way you look while on your new island, so there's no need to worry! Yes, yes, as long as you have a mirror or a vanity, you can change up your style at any time! ♪ pic.twitter.com/schX5mdZuj

These choices, however, are not permanent, as seen in the second video. Players will be able to use a mirror in their homes to change any feature at any time. There even seems to be additional options available at the mirror, so hair color and new hairstyles may be unlockable on the island.
Between the full character creation, clothing inventory options, and an array of exciting new features, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is shaping up to be one of the most exciting releases for the Nintendo Switch this year. Animal Crossings: New Horizons releases March 20th worldwide on Nintendo Switch.
