Andrew Garfield On Appearing In Spider-Man: No Way Home - "Never Say Never"-April 2024
Apr 10, 2025 3:29 PM

Andrew Garfield has once again spoken about the rumors that he will appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home alongside Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland. Speaking to Access, Garfield said he thinks it's a "really cool idea" for that to happen, but, unfortunately, he says he hasn't been asked to appear in the movie.

It could still happen, though, he said.

"I've heard all the rumors of everything and to be frank, I think it's a really cool idea. But as a fan, just as a pure fan ... it's a really cool idea," he said. "I hate being given the responsibility of disappointing people. But no. It's not something that ... I've been asked about or anything like that. But, you know, never say never."

Before this, Garfield said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that he hadn't received a call about appearing in No Way Home yet. That being said, Garfield refused to give a straight answer when asked to reply "yes or no" about if he's in the movie or not.

In addition to Garfield, it's rumored that another previous Spider-Man actor, Tobey Maguire, will appear in No Way Home as part of some kind of multiverse storyline. We've also heard that Jamie Foxx's Electro and Alfred Molina's Doc Ock will appear in No Way Home. None of these characters exist in the same universe, which further suggests the multiverse theory.

Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange is rumored to also appear in No Way Home as a Tony Stark-like mentor figure for Tom Holland's Spider-Man. For his part, Cumberbatch is also refusing to directly address the rumors directly. Doctor Strange has the ability to bend time and the like, which could help explain the rumors.

No Way Home releases on December 17, 2021. It was one of the 10 movies that Marvel just announced the release dates for, the others including Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, The Marvels, Eternals, and more.
