Amazon Is Now Blocking Non-Prime Members from Buying Certain Games
Amazon Is Now Blocking Non-Prime Members from Buying Certain Games-October 2024
Oct 22, 2024 9:33 PM

In what is certainly going to be perceived as a controversial move, Amazon appears to have blocked non-Prime subscribers from buying certain games from its store.

For example, the physical version of Grand Theft Auto V for PlayStation 4 is one such game. As you can read below, the pop-up explains:

This item, sold by Amazon.com, is currently reserved exclusively for Prime members.

That currently seems to suggest that it's only a temporary situation. Moreover, all other versions of the game, both physical and digital, are unaffected by this change.

Still, it's not exactly reassuring for those who frequently buy on Amazon without subscribing to the Prime service. Granted, there's a free trial for Prime and one could theoretically create as many accounts as needed to use it, but this is a policy change that is sure to turn up many noses.

Other affected games are Fallout 4 PC (physical) on Amazon US, FIFA 16 PS4/Xbox 360 (physical) on Amazon UK and Assassin's Creed Syndicate PS4 (physical) on Amazon UK. Let us know in the comments section if you find out more of these, and obviously feel free to chime in on this hot topic.
