Project Altered Beast, the PlayStation 2 remake of the Genesis classic currently in development at Sega's Wow Entertainment in Japan, will not be published in North America. The official reason for the cancellation is that "Sega is more particular about the titles it ships in the US." This seems to suggest that the game, which releases in Japan on January 27, is not shaping up well.
We can also confirm that Sega is not looking to license Altered Beast out to another publisher. Most recently, San Francisco-based Mastiff published Gungrave: Overdose in the US, which was another Sega-published title in Japan it declined to bring to America.
