39 new games were added to the Nintendo eShop this week, as the New Year's Sale and other special promotions continue. Notable releases include a classic arcade shmup port, a retro de-make of a boomer shooter, and a gloomy neon roguelike.
This week sees the further addition to the Arcade Archives with Galaga. The arcade shooter classic needs practically no introduction, but the game's colorful, surreal vibe and intense difficulty still stands out. Dusk '82 is a prequel that turns the cult-hit boomer shooter into a 2D adventure, in which you can make your own levels. Lone Ruin is a roguelike twin-stick like Enter the Gungeon or Nuclear Throne, with a moody, neon vibe.
The 2023 New Year's sale is still ongoing and will wrap up on January 15 at 11:59 PM PT / 2:59 AM ET. You can pick up deals on some of the Switch's best titles like Disco Elysium, The Messenger, and Wargroove.
Additionally, just like last week, Nintendo is offering a double gold points promotion for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers. Usually, you get 5% of whatever you pay for a game on the eShop in gold coins, which can be used to discount other games you purchase. If you are an Expansion Pack subscriber, you get 10% of the purchase price on anything you buy. This offers wraps up on January 31.
