Game over? I don't think so... Among the passel of Electronic Arts announcements this week comes news that two eagerly anticipated shooters have received their final titles. The first is the upcoming first-person shooter from Gearbox Software and Sega based on the 1986 film Aliens.
Given the developer's public statements that the game follows the future-soldiers who fight the titular acid-blooded xenomorphs in the Aliens movie, it's no surprise that the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC game will be called Aliens: Colonial Marines. If that title sounds familiar, it's because it's the same as a canceled 2002 PlayStation 2 project from Electronic Arts and the now-defunct Fox Interactive.
Aliens: Colonial Marines' title was revealed on the cover of the March issue of Game Informer magazine, which also gave a final name to the third Red Faction game recently revealed by THQ. Developed by Volition (Saints Row), the game will be titled Red Faction: Guerrilla, indicating it will follow the same sort of underground, off-world rebellion as depicted in the first two installments in the series.
GameSpot will have more details on both Aliens: Colonial Marines and Red Faction: Guerrilla as they become available.
