Alan Wake’s Return Isn’t a Game
Alan Wake’s Return Isn’t a Game-October 2024
Oct 20, 2024 6:18 PM

Not that long ago, we all got excited by the news that Alan Wake was, well, returning. A trademark had been filed for Alan Wake's Return, and that was nothing but good news for fans of the world's greatest horror writer slash flashlight fiend. Unfortunately, it's turned out we got excited over nothing.

Instead of a brand new game in the long time coming franchise, the trademark filing refers to a video series that'll appear in Quantum Break.

Remedy's creative director Sam Lake confirmed that the trademark didn't relate to a new game, but instead was a live action mini-TV series starring Lake himself. He spoke with Kotaku:

"A big part of the trademarking process all in all is the legalities of it.

"When it comes to starting development on a game, it's a different process of making sure everything is locked down

"So, no real news about anything future Alan Wake-related.

"Other than that, we are exploring possibilities and concepting different things, but lots needs to click into place for anything to happen. We will be the first to talk about it when there is something definite to talk about."

Quantum Break will be released worldwide on April 5th.
