Alan Wake Remastered Hits PlayStation For The First Time On October 5
Alan Wake Remastered Hits PlayStation For The First Time On October 5-October 2024
Oct 24, 2024 10:21 AM

We got our first look at the newly announced Alan Wake Remastered during Sony's PlayStation Showcase, which provided a new trailer that gives a sense of the game's revamped visuals. Sony also dropped the remaster's release date of October 5, and in a press release that followed the showcase, we found out that Alan Wake Remastered will cost $30 USD / €30 / £30.

Alan Wake Remastered was announced just recently as a 4K version of the original game, featuring both of its DLC expansions, The Signal and The Writer. The trailer showed some of those visuals in action, including some of the game's many story-driven cinematics and its combat system, which requires you to use a flashlight to battle against enemies corrupted by a dark force, weakening them to make them vulnerable to your guns.

Now Playing: Alan Wake Remastered Trailer | Playstation Showcase 2021

The trailer revealed the game's release date of October 5, something that had previously only been rumored. This is also our first look at the game on any PlayStation console. When Alan Wake was first released back in 2010, it only appeared on Xbox 360 and PC.

The remaster's announcement comes in the wake of interest in Alan Wake seeing something of a resurgence thanks to its ties to developer Remedy Entertainment's most recent game, Control, thanks to Easter eggs and Control's story DLC, AWE, that directly connects the stories of the two games together. That's a big deal--Remedy only acquired the publishing rights for Alan Wake in 2019, and already there are rumors that Alan Wake 2 is in development. The presence of Alan Wake Remastered only feels like it adds more fuel to the fire that we're about to see more of the story of Alan Wake (and, it seems, Control).

The remaster is set to release on PC (on the Epic Games Store), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. We've also got a full rundown of Sony's biggest announcements from its PlayStation Showcase for you to check out.
