Alan Wake 2 is here, and as you would expect from a survival horror game, particularly one developed by the twisted minds at Remedy Entertainment, the game is packed with secrets to uncover for those willing to stray a bit off the beaten path.
Note: The following article contains some non-story SPOILERS.
While Alan Wake 2 gives its two heroes a basic pistol by default, there are a number of more useful weapons that can be optionally acquired, although all of them require a bit of puzzle-solving to get your hands on. Co-protagonist Saga Anderson has a slightly larger arsenal than her counterpart, being able to acquire a crossbow, hunting rifle, and a pair of shotguns throughout the course of the game. Here’s how to acquire all of Saga’s weapons so you can go into the darkness feeling prepared…
Head back to the cash register, and you’ll find a note about changing the combination and a lotto ticket. The solution is a 7 followed by the 5th lotto number. In other words – 739.
Head back to the case, enter the combination and the shotgun is yours!
Enter this code into a nearby Cult Stash to claim the Crossbow.
Move to the security room to your left and check out the illuminated computer. A passcode is needed. Thankfully, there a several clues in this room as to what the code is. You’ll find a document referring to a ritual that takes place after new moons.
A calendar on the bulletin board on the wall indicates the dates of recent new moons – you’re looking for the most recent one, which happened on August 16. The password is the date after that, formatted European-style (day-month-year). So, long story short, the code for the computer is – 170823.
Enter the code and then turn of the security door locks. Exit the security room via the door opposite the one you came in from. Turn right, and you’ll see the security doors near Reception are now open. Head through them, then into the lounge, then behind the Reception desk.
In a cardboard box under the desk you’ll find the doorknob. Head back to the Workshop and use the knob on the door. The hunting rifle is in an open locker inside.
Nearby, you’ll see a series of science fiction books and a note about letters corresponding to certain numbers. What to do? Take note of the letters the last names of authors of the three books start with – Quincy (Part I), Batson (Part I), and Westmore (Part III). So, QBW, which translates to – 723.
Enter that code into the case to get the shotgun.
And there you have it! All of Saga’s weapons are now yours. Ammo for some of these weapons is fairly limited, but they can really shred enemies compared to your basic pistol, so they’re worth tracking down.
Alan Wake 2 can be played on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. You can check out more of Wccftech’s Alan Wake 2 guides here.
