Twin Peaks fans have waited for the better part of three decades for the series to continue, a wait that may come to an end in April.
The previously announced Showtime revival of Twin Peaks will return on Sunday, April 30. That's according to a promotional calendar Showtime reportedly sent out recently (via Instagram and Reddit). This lines up with an IMDB listing for the first episode that states it will air at some point in April. That could allow the show to assume Homeland's timeslot on Sunday nights.

This probably isn't intended to be the official announcement of the premiere date. We'll likely be hearing from Showtime soon, as its press tour is scheduled to take place this coming Monday, January 9. Meanwhile, actress Sherilyn Fenn, who plays Audrey Horne on the show and is returning for the new season, recently shared an image from the Season 2 finale. Along with it, she referenced a line from the show and teased the return, saying, "It's happening again.....this year....sooner than you think…"
A recent report from Deadline suggested the new season could show up at the Sundance film festival later this month. However, co-creator Mark Frost has denied this on Twitter, deeming the notion a "silly rumor."
As the show nears its return, Showtime has released some promotional videos. Most recently, we saw one featuring co-creator David Lynch, in character as Gordon Cole, snacking on a donut. In October, a new book, The Secret History of Twin Peaks, was released that revealed more about the history of the titular town and bridged the gap to the new season.
Twin Peaks originally ran from 1990-91 on ABC, followed by a prequel film, Fire Walk With Me, in 1992. Much of the original cast is returning for the new season along with more than a few new additions.
Disclosure: Showtime is a division of CBS, which is GameSpot's parent company.
