AEW: Fight Forever – How to Actually Win a Tag Team Match-November 2024
Nov 30, 2024 2:39 AM

AEW: Fight Forever, the new wrestling game from upstart promotion All Elite Wrestling, has arrived, and for the most part it’s a solid debut. The game offers a variety of ways to play, from ladder matches to the dreaded Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match, but surprisingly, perhaps the hardest type of match to win is a good, old-fashioned tag team match.

AEW: Fight Forever tag matches reflect those seen on AEW TV, with their non-stop interference, double-teaming, and broken-up pins. That’s all fine and good, but sometimes it feels impossible to gain an advantage and actually finish a tag match, particularly when teamed with an AI partner. This can be a problem, as Fight Forever’s career mode throws you into a lot of tag matches. Here are some tag team tips that will help you actually come out on top…

Spend most of your time on the apron

This may seem counter-intuitive – don’t you want to be in the ring doing all the heavy lifting? The answer is actually no, as being the person on the apron plays a more strategic role. When somebody goes for a pin in a Fight Forever tag team match, the wrestlers on the apron are allowed to get into the ring for several seconds in order to break up the pin/stop the pin from being broken up.

So, let your AI teammate do most of the work – they’re actually pretty adept. Once they look like they’re going to go for a pin, position yourself on the apron in such a way that you can beeline across the ring and cut off the other member of the opposing team looking to break up the pin. With Fight Forever’s momentum system, it’s very difficult to keep members of the opposing team down for any length of time. Cutting them off at the last second like this is your best bet.

Double team while you can

During those times when you and your teammate are both in the ring, you can hit double-team moves by both attacking a single opponent at the same time. These moves are big momentum changers, so they’re definitely worth going for while you can.

Sneak in those extra shots

When you’re on the apron and the action gets close to you, you can hit one of the attack buttons and reach in with a quick cheap shot. Every little bit of cheating counts!

There you go, a few basic tips for getting through those career mode tag matches. AEW: Fight Forever launches tomorrow (June 29) on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and Switch. You can check out Wccftech’s full review of the game here and some general tips here.
