Martin Scorsese's The Departed wasn't the only film this weekend being honored as the best among its peers. Square Enix has announced that the CG film Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment won the award for Best Anime Feature at the first American Anime awards, which took place at the New York Comic Con.
The movie, based on the popular 1997 PlayStation game Final Fantasy VII, was released in the US in April on DVD and UMD, the proprietary format for the PlayStation Portable. The film featured the voice talents of Rachael Leigh Cook, Mena Suvari, and Steve Burton and was directed by series veteran Tetsuya Nomura.
