Activision today released financials for its second quarter, which ended Sept. 30. The company reported net revenues for the quarter of US$66,182,000, compared with net revenues of US$53,015,000 for the same quarter last year. Despite that increase in revenues, the company posted a loss for the quarter - US$2,234,000 (10 cents per share), which compares with a net income of US$1,837,000 (8 cents per share) for the quarter in 1997.
For the six-month period ending Sept. 30, Activision reported net revenues of US$118,062,000, which compares to net revenues of US$79,529,000 for the same six-month period of 1997. The company's losses stood at US$6,038,000 (28 cents per share) for the six-month period this year, compared with a net loss of US$3,577,000 (17 cents per share) for 1997.
"We believe that Activision is well positioned for the third fiscal quarter," said Robert A. Kotick, Activision chair and CEO, "with an exciting and robust product slate that includes Heavy Gear II, Heretic II, Sin, Fighter Squadron, and Teen Digital Diva for the PC; Apocalypse and T'ai Fu for the PlayStation; Nightmare Creatures for the N64; and an all-new version of Asteroids for both the PC and PlayStation."
