Abbey Road arrives October 20 for $17
Abbey Road arrives October 20 for $17-October 2024
Oct 30, 2024 3:22 PM

With The Beatles: Rock Band set to hit shelves in three weeks, MTV Games and Harmonix are releasing a steady drip of information on the project. Last week alone saw the release of the game's full setlist (minus one song), as well as confirmation that classic albums Rubber Soul and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band would join Abbey Road as downloadable content.

"Maxwell's Silver Hammer" comes down October 20. Today the companies further detailed their downloadable plans, dating and pricing Abbey Road and providing rough release windows for the other two albums. Gamers will have some time to enjoy The Beatles: Rock Band before getting a chance to add significantly to its 45-song setlist, as Abbey Road will release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 October 20. The album will sell for $16.98 (1,360 Microsoft points), or $1.99 (160 Microsoft points) on a per-track basis.

As usual, gamers receive a price break by purchasing the album as a whole, but Harmonix is also including an extra incentive for gamers to scoop up Abbey Road in its entirety. Gamers who purchase the full-album download will be able to play the eight-song B-side medley as one continuous track. Those interconnected songs include "You Never Give Me Your Money," "Sun King," "Mean Mr. Mustard," "Polythene Pam," "She Came in Through the Bathroom Window," "Golden Slumbers," "Carry That Weight" and "The End."

No release window or pricing information was given for the Wii version of the game, suggesting that Abbey Road's appearance on Nintendo's console will trail that of its cross-platform counterparts. [UPDATE] An MTV Games representative confirmed for GameSpot that "the Wii release timeframe and pricing of Abbey Road [will be] the same as 360 and PS3 releases."

Abbey Road will be followed onto The Beatles: Rock Band Music Store in November by Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, with Rubber Soul arriving in December. For those who can't wait for downloadable content, the Xbox 360 edition of the game will have a limited-time exclusive track, "All You Need Is Love," available for 160 Microsoft points ($1.99) from the game's September 9 launch.

In other Rock Band news, Harmonix released a list of artists whose work will be added to the Rock Band Music Store in the future. Gamers will soon be able to purchase additional tracks from Queen, Nirvana, Tom Petty, Elton John, Iggy Pop, Pantera, Talking Heads, Korn, and a pair of Jack White-fronted acts, The White Stripes and The Raconteurs.
