A Quiet Place: Part 2 Opens Big At US Box Office-November 2024
Nov 16, 2024 3:27 AM

A Quiet Place: Part II has opened to impressive box office results. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the horror sequel took in $4.8 million on 3,000 screens in its first night on release.

The movie's opening night gross is higher than that of the first Quiet Place, which made $4.3 million in its opening night in 2018. The sequel has been received with strong reviews, and its success so far is another sign that the US box office is in good shape post-pandemic. A Quiet Place: Part II was originally set for release in March 2020 and was one of the first films to be delayed.

The other big movie opening at the start of the Memorial Day weekend was Disney's Cruella, which made $1.4 million in its first night. However, while A Quiet Place: Part II can only be seen in theaters, Cruella is also available on streaming. It's one of Disney+'s Premier Access titles, meaning subscribers can watch it for an additional $30.

A Quiet Place: Part II is written and directed by John Krasinski, and stars Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe, and Cillian Murphy. GameSpot's review of the movie described it as "the best kind of horror sequel--one that honors the elements that made the first so successful, but instead of simply repeating the formula, finds new ways to keep the story fresh and the scares effective."

There's already a third Quiet Place movie in the works. In November, it was reported that Midnight Special's Jeff Nichols will take over as director.
