A Plague Tale: Innocence Shines With Stunning Screenshots
A Plague Tale: Innocence Shines With Stunning Screenshots-November 2024
Nov 1, 2024 10:26 AM

One game I'm looking forward to next year is A Plague Tale: Innocence, developed by Asobo Studios and published by Focus Home Interactive, a company that always manages to grab me, even though they slap me away every now and then. It's an abusive relationship, but one I keep coming back to.

Why? Because as a publisher they can be the reason that some truly interesting and even great games are released, such as Vampyr, the Wargame Franchise and to a lesser extent with titles like Battlefleet Gothic: Armada, The Surge and The Council to mention a few. They're a publisher that, on occasion, really threaten to touch greatness.

The hope I have is that with games that touch even more interesting subjects and make moves that others likely wouldn't, Focus Home could actually escape the seeming plateau and reach the greatness I honestly think they deserve at times. A Plague Tale: Innocence certainly has the interesting factor down, only time will tell if it makes the moves. It certainly sounds like it could push the envelope though:

A Plague Tale: Innocence tells a grim and emotional story, sending us on a journey through medieval France, with gameplay blending adventure, action, and stealth, supported by a compelling, moving story. Follow Amicia and Hugo De Rune, two lost children trying to survive a harsh, brutal world plagued by the Black Death. On the run from the Inquisition, and surrounded by the unnatural swarms of rats that appeared with the disease, Amicia and Hugo embark on a rocky journey that will not leave them unscathed.

What we do know is that it genuinely looks like a great looking game. This much you can see from the screenshots below.

Earlier in the year Focus Home also released a gameplay trailer, showing off a work in progress of the game but highlighting the atmosphere and dread of the setting. It's well worth a watch and also worth a read is the interview our very own Rosh had with the producer of the game last year.
