Today we give you a look at parts of the Dreamcast rarely seen in the photos that have been released thus far. Namely, the back of the machine and the back of the controller. Both of which reveal some new information about Sega's new powerhouse machine. Plus, as an added bonus, a couple of shot of the Irimajiri demo with Sonic the Hedgehog's appearance (which you may have read about in our story on the Japanese unveiling).

　　If you look at Sonic in the pictures included here, you'll notice that he's amazingly smooth. If this is remotely close to Sonic's new 3D look is, we can expect good things from Sonic Team. The speed in this particular demo is also high, meaning that even in 3D, Sonic's speed will not be sacrificed.

　　Now, onto the pics of the machine itself:

　　First off, the back of the machine is quite plain. The only things that stand out are the phone jack on the left hand side of the back which connects to the system's built-in modem for connection to the Internet. At this point, it's hard to tell how one would replace the modem with one that supports a higher data transfer rate than its built-in 33.6 kbps one.

　　On the right side are three connections. At the top is the AC adapter, while the bottom two are believed to be the connections to a monitor or TV, or perhaps one is an expansion port for peripherals such as a keyboard and mouse.

　　The back of the controller is interesting as well. This picture confirms that there indeed are two additional shoulder buttons on the back (as expected). But, it also shows that there are two slots for Visual Memory Systems. The top will be the main slot as the LCD is then viewable through the controller. The second may be for transferring data between two devices or for additional devices such as a rumble pack or additional memory card.
