It appears that developer 343 Industries wants community feedback on the most wanted new features for the upcoming Halo MCC update.
In a new post on the official Halo Waypoint, community manager Brian Jarrard, who goes by the name ‘Ske7ch’, has asked fans for their top new feature wishlist but points out that the result of this list doesn’t necessarily mean that these features will be implemented.
“This is by no means a promise or a commitment to implement any of these ideas but more an exercise to better understand that IF there are opportunities to evaluate new feature(s), which ones are most wanted by the current community?”, he wrote. “Again - please do not assume that any of these features would ever make it to MCC.”
According to the community, networking and online improvements won’t need to be picked as top new feature as these are already being planned. This also applies to dedicated servers for all matchmade games and the promised Xbox One X enhancements.
“One of the main matchmaking issues was related to the way that the games gathered players – each title had some differences in how it sought out players, then connected them into sessions. In an attempt to unify that method, we actually introduced a bunch of (with the benefit of hindsight) several avoidable problems and some unavoidable ones”, 343i’s Frank O’Connor wrote last year. “It gets really technical, and this is as much metaphor as technical explanation, but each potential player was assigned a kind of “ticket” which would then grant them entry into a match or session – picture a virtual waiting room at a train station – when the train arrives (a match) – everyone has to board - or the train can’t leave. Issues arose when folks left sessions before games had started that would cause the initial ticket distributions to fail, and that sometimes meant very long wait times for matches as tickets were issued and reissued – especially in countries with lower populations.”
Jarrard also notes that the development team is aware of the demand for a PC version of the Master Chief Collection, but bringing the game to PC isn’t considered a feature.
