343’s Halo 5: Guardians has had the highest monthly active players for a Halo title since Halo 3. 343 Industries’ community manager, Andy Dudynsky, shared the news on the Halo subreddit and expressed to be "pretty stoked" about the numbers.

　　Replying in a post about how Halo 5: Guardians has climbed to 6th spot of the Xbox One’s most played game list, Dudynsky, who goes by the name Bravo343, shared his excitement about Halo 5 player numbers.

　　“I do believe you'd be very pleasantly surprised with not only the number of players who jumped on during the free play period (holy moly lots! by golly it worked!), but also the amount of Halo 5 players each day and month - this isn't something we've talked about yet, but I am rather happy to share that even before the free play period, Halo 5 has had the highest monthly active players for a Halo title since Halo 3", Dudynsky wrote

　　"Also exciting (and not yet discussed, either) is the increase that H5 has seen in players each month over the past few months (we just got done looking at June numbers, which are once again higher than the previous month). As you can imagine this is pretty darn exciting to see, and this thread seemed like an appropriate place to share this news for the first time :)."

　　"I'd have to get approval from the powers that be to say more in terms of specifics, but you should rest assured that together, we're quite a strong army."

　　Further down in the post, Dudynsky expressed that and the team over at 343 are "pretty stoked" when looking the numbers of active Halo 5 players.

　　"We are pretty stoked too! numbers are fun to look at when they go up. well, halo numbers", he said.

　　Halo 5: Guardians was released back in October of last year, and according to 343’s franchise development director for the Halo franchise, Frank O’Connor, the game sold 5 million copies within the first 3 months after its release. Meanwhile, back in November of 2015, Microsoft announced that Halo 5 had made history as the biggest Halo launch and fastest-selling Xbox One exclusive game to-date.
