The Gama Network and the International Game Designers Association (IGDA) have announced the 2002 Game Developers Choice Awards (GDCA) advisory board. The board includes 16 top game developers, and it will help shape the annual event and select the winners of honors such as the lifetime achievement award. The recipients of the other awards will be nominated and voted for by professional game developers beginning January 2, 2002. The board includes the following members:

- Louis Castle, general manager and cofounder, Westwood Studios (USA)

- Graeme Devine, project manager/designer, id Software (USA)
- Noah Falstein, president, The Inspiracy (USA)
- Nicolas Gaume, president, Kalisto Entertainment (France)
- Demis Hassabis, CEO and designer, Elixir Studios (England)
- Chris Kingsley, CTO, Rebellion Developments (England)
- Gabe Newell, managing director and founder, Valve Software (USA)
- Dave Perry, president, Shiny Entertainment (USA)
- Kim Quirk, CEO, CogniToy (USA)
