Sony today announced that the PlayStation 4's system software update 1.60 will arrive today, adding support for 7.1 surround sound headsets like the Pulse and the Pulse Elite Edition. The update is scheduled to be available to download sometime "late tonight," though a specific time was not announced.

　　In addition to the news of the PS4 1.60 update, Sony also announced today an all-new wireless headset: the Gold Wireless Headset. Launching early this month for $100, the headset offers 7.1 surround sound, custom audio modes created by developers, a noise cancelling microphone for voice chat, and customizable faceplates.

　　The Gold Wireless Headset works with the PS4, PlayStation 3, or PC and promises eight hours of use via its wireless adaptor. The headset also works with the PlayStation Vita and other mobile devices thanks to a 3.5mm audio cable (included in the box).

　　The new headset, as well as the Pulse Elite Edition, are compatible with Sony's free headset companion app, which will be available from the PlayStation Store this month. This app lets you download developer-created sound modes for games like InFamous: Second Son.
