Zynga tends to get written off by some people as being nothing more than a company coasting on the past success of FarmVille. Those people might be particularly surprised by the reveal of its next game, Dawn of Titans.
The product of Zynga's 2014 acquisition of NaturalMotion, Dawn of Titans is a PvP action-strategy game for mobile platforms, putting it in the same space as games like Clash of Clans. Players use simple gestures to control battles consisting of thousands of units that fight in real-time. These armies are led by giants (hence the "Titans" in the title) that look a bit like Sauron fighting during the Battle of Dagorlad.
The trailer above gives a taste of what this all looks like in action. Based on this small impression, the scale looks more like something you'd see in a Total War game on PC than a mobile strategy game.
A specific release date has not yet been announced, but Zynga will begin public testing in certain regions "in the coming weeks." This will be followed by a worldwide release "later this year."
