TOKYO - In Japan, where Nintendo is currently not even a factor in the home video gaming market (in spite of Game Boy - still huge, with no signs of slowing), The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time could be the machine's last hope for the N64.
Today, we spotted a TV commercial for the game. It's simple, but effective. If it brings in buyers, the N64 could get a second chance.
In it, viewers watch a cute Japanese girl play the game, reacting to different scenes as they cut directly to parts of the game. At the end, the ad announces the release date (Nov. 21 in Japan) and its price. It's effective in showing some of the cinematic scenes in the game and some really cool action as well. But will it be enough?
If Zelda 64 - one of the most anticipated games on the machine since Mario 64 - does not do well in Japan, it could mean the end of the system.
