YouTube has removed an ad for the new Conjuring movie, The Nun, because it was too scary and it violated the company's policies. The six-second ad shows a volume sign decreasing until it reaches mute, and then the nun appears as part of a horrific jump-scare.

　　The ad violates YouTube's "shocking content policy," and it's now been removed. "We value diversity and respect for others, and we strive to avoid offending or shocking users with ads, websites, or apps that are inappropriate for our ad network," YouTube said.

　　YouTube's "shocking content policy" warns that the company may take action against content that is "violent or shocking." Under this umbrella are "promotions that are likely to shock or scare," and the ad is surely shocking and scary. You can watch it here if you dare.

　　The Nun, which is the fifth instalment in the Conjuring series,opens on September 7. It stars Taissa Farmiga, Demian Bichir, and Jonas Bloquet. Directed by Corin Hardy (The Hallow), The Nun is produced by Conjuring director James Wan and was written Gary Dauberman (It).

　　Here is the official plot description: "When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order’s unholy secret. Risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun that first terrorized audiences in The Conjuring 2, as the abbey becomes a horrific battleground between the living and the damned."
