SCEA announced its first boxing title for the PlayStation Monday - Contender. Available in January, Contender features 40 different boxers (20 playable), each with their own unique look and fighting style. Your job is to become the World Champ, building your boxer's speed, strength, and stamina with each fight. You can even save your fighter to a memory card to match up against a friend.
The game will be Dual Shock compatible, and features a true boxing scoring system and three fight styles - Detroit, Open, and Peek-a-boo. Going for realism, Contender also features crowd noise that gets louder during exciting fights, realistic character animation, and damage/fatigue.
