Xbox One To Sell 63M (17M Xbox One X) by End of 2021, Says DFC Intelligence-April 2024

Analyst firm DFC Intelligence just released a new report detailing their forecasts for the Xbox One systems.

According to DFC Intelligence, Microsoft's family of console hardware should reach 63 million units sold by the end of 2021, 17 million of which should be Xbox One X systems. David Cole, an analyst at DFC Intelligence, said:

Xbox One X is an expensive system designed to appeal to a fairly narrow demographic of gamers who want high quality graphics but do not want to spend money on a high-end PC. The challenge is that is a fairly small addressable market, even as sales of 4k television sets start to soar. Both the Nintendo Switch or Sony PlayStation 4 offer a very strong value proposition that consumers seem to be flocking towards.

Many of the exclusives are fairly minor indie titles that will probably not take advantage of the enhanced graphics features of the system. Furthermore, the leap from 1080 to 4k resolution is simply not as revolutionary as the previous movement from standard definition to high definition.

The analysts at DFC Intelligence have also updated their forecasts on the video game industry as a whole. The industry should reach the impressive milestone of $102 billion sales this year, which would be an 8% increase year-over-year.

Are you planning to get an Xbox One X once it launches on November 7th for $/€ 499 or £449? Let us know below.
