The semi-finals will be between LGD.cn and IG, and Team DK vs Vici Gaming. When it comes to storylines, the obvious semi-final will be the match featuring Team DK and Vici Gaming. Aside from the obvious fact that Bai 'rOtk' Fan and Jun Hao 'Super!' Lie were booted from the team after their disappointing 5th place finish at The International 2013. The pair joined Vici Gaming, where they so far have experienced tremendous success against both domestic Chinese teams and international competition.
Meanwhile, Team DK quickly became the Chinese masters of the 6.78 patch and held all the other participating teams in a stranglehold before the 6.79 patch hit the WPC-Ace league. But with the implementation of the massive 6.79 patch, the team has struggled at times. Most notably when they were eliminated in the recent Sina Supernova Dota 2 Cup and at the incredibly stacked MLG Columbus tournament where they finished 2nd against the Cinderella story that was SPG.int.
Meanwhile, LGD.cn vs. Invictus Gaming will prove to be a Bo5 to remember. Both teams have found an amazing form as of late, LGD.cn especially have displayed an extreme understanding of the 6.79 patch and quickly established themselves as a top 3 team in China as they cruised through the D2L Season 4 regular season where they went 7-0 in matches and 14-2 in overall mapscore.
Invictus Gaming has also performed consistently against the top of the hiearchy in China as they placed 2nd in the overall standing in the regular season of the WPC Ace League and finished 2nd in the D2L Season 4 playoffs, where they lost 3-1 against Vici Gaming.
The first semi-final between DK and Vici Gaming will be played on the 30th of December due to the Christmas break that's coming up, LGD.cn vs iG will be played the following day and the Bo7 grand final will be played on the first day of 2014. History will be made as the winner will claim the largest ever prize pool in Dota 2 history outside of The International that sits on a total of $163,400.
