A good set of headphones has almost become an essential necessity to experience the virtual world around us. From the immersive virtual reality to games and entertainment, everything depends of the sound quality of this accessory. Tronsmart recently unveiled their latest Encore S6 Active Noise Cancelling Wireless Headphones that promises to tune you out of your surroundings and transport you to the audio wonders with a comfortable leather design.

Before we dive into the experience the latest Encore S6 promises to offer, here is the complete list of specifications:
Dimensions: 190 x 164 x 75 mmWeight: 270gBluetooth version: 4.1Play time: 24 hours (with ANC 20 hours)Standby time: 900hImpedance: 32 ΩWireless range: 10mFrequency response: 20Hz – 20KHzSoft Memory-Protein EarmuffsS6 can block out 98% of noise
But then at the price tag of over $60, it isn’t a cheap pair of headphones. The headphones are made of plastic, but still give a premium look and feel, with ear pads made of leather. The manufacturer has also added a cushion on the top to make the use a little more comfortable. While this product is definitely not here to replace your bedtime music routine that only works with in-ear accessories, it still offers a very comfortable wear even if you use it for several continuous hours.

To add more tailored comfort, the Tronsmart Encore S6 also allows the handles to be adjusted in height by up to 2.8 cm per side. Unlike some other products, this extension is actually made of metal, making it quite stable even when they aren’t fully extended. Once you raise or lower this extension, it stays in place without having the need to readjust it over and over again.
Since the product offers active noise cancellation, there are chances you will miss hearing that doorbell or the oven timer going off especially if you are listening to music at near-maximum volume. But that doesn’t mean you will need to keep taking them off, as you can flip its ear pads outwards to temporarily expose your ears. Sounds weird, but works like a charm…
The product lacks slightly when you are listening to slower tunes or classical music, but you will probably only feel that if you have been using a pair worth over $250. It definitely doesn’t annoy you or sound wrong to your ears – just that rock or heavy music works almost perfectly here.
The comfort that it offers for longer period of time, the sound quality that doesn’t unnecessarily promote bass (but isn’t bass-deficient – if there’s a term like that), and the high volume that doesn’t kill your ears makes Encore S6 a worthy choice in $60 - $80 price range that does the job for an average user who isn't an audiophile.
As for the ANC, it does work beautifully. You will feel the difference when you aren't playing any sound, you click on the NC button on the headphone itself and it tunes out any ambient sound. However, since the pads are very well designed, even if you don’t turn on the ANC, it still reduces a lot of background noise.

While the Encore S6 does support calls and comes with a built-in microphone, I didn’t actually like this functionality. The person on the other side was getting slightly unclear sound. Good for quick calls, but not something for long conversations. Considering Encore S6 isn’t primarily designed for calls, it does this job, just not very perfectly.
As for the battery life, it works almost exactly what Tronsmart promises: nearly 24 hours with ANC off, and 16 hours with it turned on. Since the Encore S6 also comes with an AUX cable, you can connect it when you are out of charge. On an iPhone, it also shows the battery level of S6, but the Android devices aren’t supported for this one functionality.
In my multiple tests, the Encore S6 took nearly 2.5 hours to fully charge. But considering it fulfils the promise of 20+ hours of playtime, I didn’t really mind it.
