Why Is Everyone So Small In Resident Evil Re:Verse?
Why Is Everyone So Small In Resident Evil Re:Verse?-April 2024
Apr 21, 2025 3:40 AM

Resident Evil Re:verse was revealed during this week's Resident Evil Village showcase, acting as a multiplayer accompaniment to the campaign. Something doesn't seem quite right with the scale of the shooter action, however, and it might be down to the characters themselves.

Some fans have started noticing that the sizes of the in-game models used for characters like Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield seem much smaller than usual, especially when viewed in reused spaces such as the police station from the Resident Evil 2 remake. Resident Evil is usually designed with tight corridors and small spaces to create tension, so it's possible this had to be changed in some way to accommodate for more frantic gunplay.

Now Playing: Resident Evil Re:Verse - Official Gameplay Teaser Trailer

Capcom hasn't confirmed one way or the other, but it seems like the character models have been shrunk down to allow for this space while not making drastic changes to the maps, many of which are likely being reused in some way. Critic Alex Donaldson shared a screenshot from the game's trailer that shows this in effect.

It's just been pointed out to me that the characters in RE:VERSE appear to have been shrunk, in order to allow for multiplayer freedom of movement through environments designed as cramped horror levels, and that's... quite the solution pic.twitter.com/PZCAZIIjb7

It's a creative way to make the most of resources that are already on hand, and likely a change that the majority of players will never notice. Resident Evil Re:Verse launches with Resident Evil Village on May 7 for Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.
