Over the weekend, Nintendo rolled out the DSi XL in North America, the presumed final precursor before moving into the 3D space with the 3DS. Nintendo supported the more-than-a-handful handheld's launch with WarioWare DIY, a game that's primary draw is players' ability to make their own absurd minigames. As part of the publisher's weekly online store update today, Nintendo released the handheld's WiiWare complement, WarioWare DIY Showcase.
WarioWare DIY Showcase doesn't include game-making tools like its handheld counterpart. However, for 800 Wii points ($8) gamers are afforded 70 fast-draw minigames as well as the ability to download and play experiences created on the DS. WarioWare DIY Showcase accommodates play for up to four. GameLab's frenetic time-management sim Diner Dash also heads to WiiWare this week, courtesy of Hudson Entertainment. It costs 1,000 Wii points ($10).
The WarioWare gravy train continues to roll. On DSiWare, Disney Interactive Studios will riff off of Bizarre Creations' 2007 Boom Boom Rocket with Disney Fireworks. The 800 DSi-point game ($8) sees gamers timing fireworks explosions in a bid for high scores across 15 levels. Sabarasa's eco-friendly Save the Turtles charges gamers with rescuing turtles across 32 real-world beaches. Bearing the "comic mischief" indicator, Save the Turtles costs 500 DSi points ($5).
Wii Music may not have been the evergreen hit Nintendo was looking for, but the publisher is returning to the rhythm scene this week with Nintendo DSi Metronome and Nintendo DSi Instrument Tuner. The self-descriptive games are 200 DSi points ($2) each. Mastertronic's Super Yum Yum Puzzle Adventures, a puzzler where gamers gobble fruit to navigate around environments, also launches this week for 800 DSi points ($8).
Lastly, Nintendo has added Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber to the Wii's Virtual Console this week. Having received rapt critical praise upon its release for the Nintendo 64 in 2000, the strategy role-playing game costs 1,000 Wii points ($10).
