Interactive Magic Online has released four screenshots for the upcoming version of it's online multiplayer flight simulation Warbirds, which will feature Direct3D acceleration. Note that the two screenshots showing the view from the cockpit are fudged slightly - the cockpit art was layered on top of the terrain graphics.
This Direct3D upgrade to Warbirds - Version 2.01 - will also include a bevy of other features such as completely revised cockpit artwork (more lifelike gauges as well as some new ones), better sounds, improved handling characteristics, and stress limits to various parts of the aircraft.
Warbirds Version 2.01 will also feature eleven new aircraft models and types: P-51B, B-25C, P-47C, P-40B, B-17F, Spitfire Mk XIV, Seafire Mk II, F4U-4, Yak 3, Yak 9D, and the Me-262.
The Direct3D version is still in testing, but it is anticipated that the new version will be released by the end of April.
