Vogel's TwistDock seems more like a lazy Susan on steroids--we like. It mounts your PlayStation 3 (Slim or original) onto a rotating platform that tidies up cords, provides charging docks for two controllers, and has an optional four-port USB hub built into it.
Vogel is known in Europe for its LCD mounts and TV accessories and is currently sold in 10,000 stores across the continent.
The charging stations for the controllers have a small attachment that connects to the mini USB port on the controller. LED indicators on the front indicate the charging status of both controllers. Red indicates that the port is empty, orange indicates a controller is currently charging, and green means it's fully charged. Albert Zeeman, VP Innovations and Alliances, stated that the TwistDock charges controllers three to four times faster than the PlayStation 3. In addition, both controllers will continue to charge without the PS3 having to remain on.
Zeeman went on to say that the TwistDock has been specially designed to match the PlayStation 3. All the curves, materials, and design considerations were specifically meant to make it look like a logical extension of the console.
Vogel also sells its optional CableSet, which has cords that match the TwistDock. The set includes a power cable and an HDMI cable that have right angle connectors to keep the cables from sticking out, maintaining the aesthetic simplicity of the setup.
Vogel's got a swank little product here if you're looking to tidy up your gaming area and add some functionality at the same time. The TwistDock will be available on July 11 at Dixons and Dynabyte for the introductory price of 79 Euros (89 Euros regularly), both stores are located in the Netherlands. US availability will begin in the fourth quarter of 2010.
