Friday's launch of the redesigned VideoGameSpot comes with a number of changes - most notably to the name.

　　Henceforward, VideoGameSpot will be known as videogames.com, located at www.videogames.com. "We're taking everything we've learned from a year of VGS and nearly two years of GameSpot in terms of navigation, production, and content," videogames.com's Joe Fielder says, "and applying it to videogames.com."

　　The new site will be significantly faster than the old - pages are about half the size of old ones - and the navigation is now smoother, more intuitive, and really easy to use. Fielder explains, "You can really take advantage of the depth of information" available on the site because the pages are so fast and because you now "have the ability to get anywhere on the site in three clicks."

　　Gamers can search for information by platform, game type, and story type.

　　And while VGS always brought its audience up-to-the-minute information, now you should find even more content to satisfy your curiosity: videogames.com will not only be the online presence of the usual lineup of VGS editors and writers, but also of EGM, EGM2, and the Official PlayStation magazine. The information available on the site will be exhaustive. "We're working more and more with them all the time to get the readers the most and best information and screens out there," Fielder says.

　　The old VideoGameSpot URL is being kept, but anyone who types it in or clicks on a bookmark will be sent to the new videogames.com site.
