Ubisoft Working On Senior Citizens Esports Movie-April 2024
Apr 16, 2025 5:34 AM

Ubisoft Film & Television (formerly Ubisoft Motion Pictures) has teamed up with the co-writers of Amy Schumer's 2018 comedy I Feel Pretty to create a film about senior citizens getting into esports, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

The in-development film is based on a 2019 Wall Street Journal article that profiles a competitive esports team founded by and composed of gamers over the age of 60. Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein wrote and directed I Feel Pretty together. It's unclear if the writing duo, who have collaborated on several projects together since the late '90s, will direct the currently untitled film.

This isn't the only film Ubisoft is currently working on. The company has a project based on Tom Clancy's The Division, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain, "well on the way." It's slated to arrive on Netflix, though a release date has yet to be confirmed.

Various Ubisoft games have been adapted into live action in the past, often with the involvement of the company's film division, Ubisoft Film & Television--most notably 2016's Assassin's Creed. In 2017 a Ghost Recon: Wildlands live-action adaptation appeared on Twitch and Amazon, though Ubisoft Film & Television was not involved. This year, the studio debuted Rob McElhenney's Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet on Apple+, a second season of which is in the works.

Correction: A previous version of this article claimed that Ubisoft Film & Television was involved with the Ghost Recon Wildlands live-action adaptation, which it was not.
