Ubisoft, Sony TM Just Dance, echoshift
Ubisoft, Sony TM Just Dance, echoshift -April 2024
Apr 19, 2025 10:53 AM

The trademark-trolling blog Superannuation has unearthed a number of interesting finds in the United States Patent and Trademark Office's online database over the past couple of months. Applications uncovered by the blog range from Blizzard's filing for "Cataclysm" to a quartet of Gearbox Software trademarks related to the name "War Hero."

The echo puzzlers live on. Continuing this run, Superannuation has unearthed two more filings, one from Sony Computer Entertainment and the other by Ubisoft. Of the former, Sony has staked its claim on "echoshift," presumably an extension of the PlayStation Network downloadable title echochome and the PSP puzzler echochrono. The application carried a succinct descriptor labeling the filing as relevant for "computer game software and video game software."

Ostensibly an extension of the publisher's mass-market business, Ubisoft's latest application is for "Just Dance." The filing indicates that "Just Dance" pertains to "game software and electronic game programs" for both console and handheld platforms. However, the application did not indicate whether the project would integrate with any type of peripheral, such as the camera-based motion-sensing add-on Ubisoft debuted for the Wii at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo.
