France-based Ubi Soft Entertainment announced on Tuesday its earnings for fourth quarter of fiscal year 1999 as well as the year. Gross revenues for the fourth quarter leapt 79.7 percent over the same period last year with 254.6 million French francs (about US$41 million). The company's gross sales for the fiscal year were up 37.6 percent at 869.7 million francs (about $140 million). The company has already forecasted 40 percent in revenue growth for the year 2000.
Ubi Soft says that the rise in profits has come from the success the company has had with its Rayman series, Buck Bumble (N64), and S.C.A.R.S., and Time 7 (only in Europe). Fourth-quarter growth was attributed to the release of Monaco Grand Prix for the Dreamcast and PlayStation, and a platinum version of Rayman. Upcoming releases from the company include Rayman 2, Monaco Grand Prix for the Nintendo 64, and Tonic Trouble. Ubi Soft will continue to distribute products from companies like LucasArts, Hasbro Interactive, and 3DO.
