Ubi Soft Goes Down to the Line-April 2024
Apr 19, 2025 3:23 AM

Ubi Soft and Criterion Studios will release a new motorcycle racing game, Redline Racing, this August.

Graphically Ubi Soft promises that Redline Racing will be "stunning": 3D card support, AGP support, with initially ten tracks in six different environments. There will be eight different bikes and six hidden ones, with 16 different animated male and female characters. Like Ubi Soft's previous racing experience, Pod, new tracks, bikes, and characters will be offered online for free on a repeated basis.

Besides real-world physics modeling and three-dimensional graphics, Redline Racing will center around the multiplayer experience, offering races of up to eight human players over a local area network or the Internet. There are plans to offer a matchmaking service as well as the ability to edit bikes and teams.

"Criterion has five years of R&D invested in the 3D engine it used to produce Redline Racer, and the work shows in every frame of the game," said Sebastien Provencher, Ubi Soft's product manager. "With that high grade of graphics, the bleeding-edge performance of the game, and the strong preview response we've been getting, we are putting our resources behind Redline Racer to ensure maximum longevity and replay value."
