Apr 18, 2025 9:14 PM

Business advisers Farleys Solicitors and Cowgill Holloway have announced that they have advised UK-based Traveller's Tales on the acquisition of fellow British studio Embryonic for an undisclosed sum. While Traveller's Tales and Embryonic have yet to make a formal announcement on the deal, the Embryonic Web site confirms the deal by saying it is "a wholly owned subsidiary of Traveller's Tales."

TT is best known for its Lego Star Wars games, most recently the successful Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy. The developer also recently worked on Bionicle Heroes and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

Embryonic was founded in 2005 by Nick Elms, one of the former founders of Warthog PLC and Digital Anvil. The company currently employs 20 people at its Bollington, Cheshire, offices. Members of Embryonic have helped produce games including Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Star Trek: Invasion, and Battlestar Galactica.

Traveller's Tales was formed in 1989 by Jon Burton and employs 120 people in its offices in Knutsford, which is also in Cheshire. The company is part of the TT Games group and has worked on titles including Toy Story, Sonic 3D, and Crash Bandicoot.
