The numbers are in and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children ruled the weekend's US box office, beating out the new Mark Wahlberg oil spill movie Deepwater Horizon.
The Tim Burton-directed Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children brought in around $28.5 million in the Friday-Sunday window, beating out Deepwater Horizon's $20.6 million over the same period of time. Both films had around the same budget and made their debuts on Friday.
The western The Magnificent Seven dropped two spots, falling from its No. 1 perch last weekend for its debut to land in the No. 3 spot this weekend, with $15.7 million. That's a 55 percent decline from its premiere weekend box office figure last weekend.
