The numbers are in and Warner Bros.' new Lego movie, The Lego Batman Movie, won the weekend at the US box office. It pulled in $55.6 million, beating out the weekend's other major newcomer, Fifty Shades Darker, which made $46.8 million. Rounding out the top five movies this weekend were John Wick: Chapter 2 ($30 million), Split ($9.3 million), and Hidden Figures ($8 million).

Globally, Fifty Shades Darker was the winner, taking in a further $100.1 million from 57 international regions, boosting its total first-weekend haul to $146.9 million. By comparison, The Lego Batman movie made a total $93 million globally from over 60 regions.
The newest video game movie, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, falls out of the Top 10 chart in the US for the first time since it came to theaters on January 27.
