Respawn Entertainment's new online-focused multiplayer shooter Titanfall will not feature any microtransactions to speak of, the developer has confirmed on Twitter.

　　"No microtransactions," the studio said.

　　In passing over microtransactions, the multiplayer-only shooter bucks a popular trend in the console gaming world. Many high-profile games--including Forza 5, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, and Gran Turismo 6--allow players to spend real-world money for in-game items.

　　Respawn also addressed the possibility of a downloadable content season pass for Titanfall, saying, "I don't have any news on a season pass." This makes sense, as neither Respawn nor publisher Electronic Arts have announced any kind of DLC for the game yet.

　　Finally, Respawn confirmed that the Titanfall alpha test has come to a close and made clear that if the studio decides to offer an open beta, "We'll be sure to let everyone know." Respawn cofounder Vince Zampella said previously that the studio was "definitely" thinking about a beta.

　　Titanfall launches on March 11, 2014 exclusively for Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. The game is never coming to PlayStation or Nintendo platforms, but sequels could. Earlier this month, Respawn addressed criticism about the game's 6v6 player cap and revealed a $65 Xbox One Titanfall-theme controller.
