Garth Chouteau, PGL booster and all-around handler of the league's current competition, writes:
Thresh lost yesterday, only his second loss ever out of hundreds of official deathmatches. He lost to 15-year-old Kurt Shimada, aka Immortal, in his second-round match. Thresh can take some comfort in the fact that the last time he lost, in the PGL Season 1 Finals, he came back through the loser's bracket to win the whole thing.
GameSpot will be spending a few hours at San Francisco's Club-i on Saturday hoping to run into Nolan Bushnell of Atari fame, Blizzard's Bill Roper, and id's elusive John Carmack - and to wipe a tear or two from Thresh's eye should he relinquish his renown to Immortal.
In related PGL news, the schedule for the league's spring '99 season is as follows. Registration: November 13 - January 25; Online Qualifications: January 4 - January 28; Regular Season: February 5 - March 12; Championship Event: April 8 - 11 (dates subject to change).
