THQ's WCW World Championship Wrestling license fueled major growth in revenues for the California-based publisher of PlayStation, N64, and PC titles. Almost 40 percent of 1997 revenues were derived from the WCW license.
For calendar year 1997, THQ's net sales were $89.4 million, a 78 percent increase over the year before. Net income for 97 was a little more than $9 million.
Net sales for the fourth quarter of 97 were $48.9 million, a 139 percent increase over the amount reported for the same period a year ago. Net income for the quarter was $6.2 million, a 512 percent increase over the same quarter in 1996.
