Although the Nintendo NX is expected to be released within a year, Nintendo is being very secretive about their new console, and it seems that the Japanese gaming behemoth is even keeping major third-party developers oblivious.

　　American gaming magazine, Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM), talked to  Skylanders developer, Toys for Bob, and The Order: 1868 developer, Ready At Dawn, and both seem to have been left in the dark about Nintendo’s upcoming console.

　　Toys for Bob’s associate creative director, Paul Yan, talked about the team’s upcoming Skylanders Imaginators, and whether the game will be released on the NX as well. According to Yan, they haven’t heard anything from Nintendo regarding a release of the game on the NX.

　　 “We haven’t heard any news from Nintendo, so we don’t have any announcements,” Yan said

　　The studio’s associate producer, Lou Studdert, confirmed what Yan said, and added that Nintendo is keeping a “very tight lid on everything”.

　　“I don’t know what [the NX] is,” Studdert joked, adding that Nintendo keeps a “very, very, very, very, very tight lid on everything.”

　　Meanwhile, Toys for Bob isn’t the only studio that is being left in the dark – The Order: 1868 developer, Ready At Dawn, confirmed that the studio hasn’t been provided an NX development kit, and that they are waiting for Nintendo to reveal more about their future plans. Ready At Dawn is currently working on their upcoming multiplayer title, Deformers.

　　“The day one plan [for Deformers] is to launch on Xbox [One], PlayStation 4, and PC… What about NX? That’s the thing. Honestly, we are waiting", Ready at Dawn's cofounder, Ru Weerasuriya, said.

　　Interestingly enough, Deformers publisher, Gametrust (Gamestop’s publishing program) confirmed that they are in talks with Nintendo about the NX, and that they have seen where Nintendo is at.

　　“On the GameTrust side, we’ve seen where [Nintendo is] at and that’s a conversation that keeps going… Since they announced the NX officially, they’ve been kind of wrangling a lot of the inquiries… and, from my perspective, it seems like they’re trying to get their hands around what type of they content they want to have for their launch window”, Gametrust’s vice president of internal development, Mark Stanley, told EGM.

　　Let’s hope that Nintendo becomes more open in the near future regarding their console – the Nintendo NX could use some good third party support.
