The ASUS ROG DreamLeague will be the first tournament supported by a third party Compendium-April 2024

This article was originally published on GameSpot's sister site onGamers.com, which was dedicated to esports coverage.

The Compendium system that Valve introduced last year for the International 2013 which helped boost the tournament's prize pool to a record breaking $2,874,380 is set to be expanded upon with the launch of the first season of Dreamhack's ASUS ROG DreamLeague. The new League Compendium bundle which will arrive before the tournament's 3rd of March start date will be the first third party Compendium to launch in the Dota 2 store.

onGamers reached out to Christian 'Hellspawn' Lord, the Project Manager of ASUS ROG DreamLeague, to ask how it felt to be one of the first third party tournaments to launch with a Compendium and how Valve has been able to help grow the scene by providing necessary and new tools along the way to do so. Who told us that:

"With the great Dota 2 community and professional teams and the fantastic possibilities Valve creates it just feels amazing to be able to increase the prize pool if the community believes in our league and broadcasts are entertaining for them, wish we believe and hope :).

We also felt it was important to give the Dota 2 community a good package deal which includes items created by Danidem and Hunter, on top of that some funny and entertaining activities from The GD Studio."

The DreamLeague Compendium will also give access to the (currently unreleased) Fantasy League system which has been extended on from the one featured in the International 2013's Compendium to include a range of new features.

Followers of the Dota 2 content analysis posts will know that the updated Fantasy League system has been in the works for a while now and will include a number of new features such as draft scheduling, player trading, the ability for the league commissioner to control all of the league's scoring system and more.

The Prize Pool

The first season of the DreamLeague will be kicking off with a base prize pool of $100,000 which will be split between the top six teams. The Compendium will act as a secondary prize pool booster with 25% of each Compendium sold contributing to a separate prize pool pot which will be shared across all of the twelve teams taking part.

There will be two different Compendium tiers in the Dota 2 store which leaves the community to decide how much they want to contribute to the tournament.
