Lee, who expressed his concerns with his own as well as his team's disappointing performances in a very controversial blog post two weeks ago had been put in charge of the drafting aspect for Team Liquid. But after continuingly shaky performances in important tournaments like the ASUS ROG Dreamleague season, as well as the SLTV America round-robin stage, it's apparent that Liquid's time with FLUFF has come to pass.
onGamers reached out towards Team Liquid's Sam 'BuLba' Sosale, and he was kind enough to provide us with the following statement:
"We have been going through a rough road the past few months. Unfortunately the past few weeks placed us in an unfortunate circumstance. With a lack of results and improvement, we had to take on a drastic change. Fluff was a great friend and a great player. Its sad it came to this but hopefully we can prove ourselves in the coming days."
Following the release of the now infamous blog he wrote where he detailed his frustrations with himself as a player and a captain, as well as his team overall, Team Liquid's CEO Victor 'Nazgul' Gossens gave FLUFF one more chance to bring the team back to its solid roots. These methods included Lee drafting for the team, encouraging Peter 'waytosexy' Nguyen as well as Tyler 'TC' Cook to direct them through various stages of the game, and even attempting a complete role-swap for the four other members of the team, but to no avail.
It should be noted however, that if the role-swaps were part of a broader plan, that a wider assortment of current free agents could be considered in order to fill the fifth slot of the roster on the team, something that will be necessary in case Liquid are to hope for an invite to the qualifiers of the 2014 edition of Valve's The International, which has previously punished teams severely for not holding down a stable roster the months before the event kicks off.
In terms of replacements, there are a considerable number of free agents within the North American region who could possibly be considered for the undoubtedly high pressure task of competing in high pressure situations, Theeban '1437' Siva played with LGD.int for the better part of 2013 and managed to reach the grand finals of the 2012/2013 season of the Chinese G-League tournament. Braxton 'Brax' Paulson who played with 1437 in said iteration of LGD.int may also be considered as a suitable replacement, but has shown little-to-no activity within the competitive Dota scene for a while. The final obvious choice might be perpetual mercenary Jimmy 'DeMoN' Ho, who recently was let go from Team Dog. DeMoN might fit in well with the potential role swaps going on within the TL camp.
