The newest movie from Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese, the 3.5-hour Killers of the Flower Moon, opened in theaters this weekend, but it was not the No. 1 film at the US box office. Taylor Swift's Eras Tour film, in its second weekend, outperformed Killers of the Flower Moon, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, and Lily Gladstone.

　　The Eras Tour movie brought in $31 million for its second weekend in the US, while Killers of the Flower Moon debuted in the No. 2 position with $23 million at the domestic box office.

　　Killers of the Flower Moon brought in another $21 million from international markets for a global first-weekend result of $44 million. The Eras Tour movie, after two weekends in theaters, has earned around $160.5 million worldwide.

　　Both films are somewhat unusual in terms of the way they were released. Swift's team decided to release the Eras Tour movie with the movie chain AMC instead of going through a traditional studio. As for Killers of the Flower Moon, its gigantic $200 million budget was funded by Apple, with Paramount handling the theatrical distribution before the film comes to Apple TV+.

　　Killers of the Flower Moon is an adaptation of the 2017 David Grann novel that tells the story of the systematic murder of members of the Osage nation in Oklahoma in the early 1900s after huge deposits of oil was discovered under their land. The movie is getting rave reviews from professional critics. GameSpot's Killers of the Flower Moon review scored it a 9/10.

　　"Killers of the Flower Moon is super long, yes, but that length, along with Scorsese's filmmaking approach, allows us to really live with these characters and understand them in a meaningful way," reviewer Phil Owen said.
