Today, Sierra announced that SWAT 3: Battle Plan, the multiplayer expansion to the game, is in development. It will offer six new missions, as well as LAN and Internet capability for multiplayer games. There will be three multiplayer game modes in the expansion: co-op team play, where you must achieve goals in a mission; free-for-all deathmatch; and competition mode, which is billed as a tournament mode of play. In addition, the game will have an editor for creating new skins, weapons, and levels.
The multiplayer component of the expansion will also be available as a free download to owners of SWAT 3. What you won't get are the new missions. The expansion, SWAT 3: Battle Plan, will ship in the third quarter of 2000.
